We are delighted to announce that our Chief Research Officer, Annie Pettit PhD, received the MRIA Award of Outstanding Merit at the National Conference held in Saskatoon from June 2 to 4.
This award recognizes conspicuous and sustained service to or on behalf of MRIA or the marketing, survey and public opinion research industry/profession. The uppermost evaluation criterion will be the degree to which the nominee’s sustained service has enriched the benefits/experience enjoyed by MRIA members and/or enhanced the industry/profession’s image and reputation.
Annie was recognized for her role in promoting ethical and quality social media listening research techniques as the new methodology burst onto the marketing research scene in the last few years. She quickly became the voice of social media research in Canada and around the world with her open and honest discussions of the new methodology, and subsequently served on ESOMAR, CASRO, and MRA committees to develop guidelines for the methodology.
In June of 2012, Annie was honored to address, on behalf of the MRIA, the Canadian House of Commons regarding social media research. There, she reinforced MRIA’s stance on privacy and ethical guidelines, and how those related to social media listening research. And again, in June of 2014, she spoke at a Canadian Senate committee to promote more stringent privacy regulations in the new digital privacy bill.
We are delighted to congratulate Annie on this deserved achievement.
